Heat from Below – Sustainable Energy for a New Residential Development in Beckum

In Beckum, North Rhine-Westphalia, a new residential area with 30 housing units was developed with a clear focus on sustainability and energy efficiency. The local utility, Energieversorgung Beckum GmbH & Co. KG, planned to supply the neighborhood via a cold local heating network based on geothermal energy. 

The key challenge: to identify a reliable, durable, and easy-to-install piping solution that meets the specific requirements of a cold district heating system  including compatibility with heat transfer media and compliance with all technical standards. 

Aliaxis Germany delivered a complete system solution built on the proven FRIALEN product family. All components were selected for their outstanding material quality, resistance to media, and ease of installation. A highlight of the project was the tapping valve DAV RED SNAP, featuring its distinctive fast clamping leaver. Site foreman Mr. Frehe commented: “I enjoy working with your DAV because it is quick and easy to install.” 

The project was executed in close collaboration with all stakeholders: 

A total of 14 deep boreholes were drilled to harness geothermal energy. This energy is transferred via a primary heating network to a central technical hub, from where it is distributed through a secondary network to individual heat pumps in the homes. 

All Aliaxis components – manufactured from PE 100-RC – were specifically approved for use with heat transfer media and confirmed in writing to the customer. Delivery was on time and in full.
