The Challenge
BS Netz GmbH faced the task of renewing an aging DN150 cast iron water supply pipeline in Bültenweg (Phase 1). The pipeline was not only outdated but also prone to corrosion and leaks. The corroded valve cross was to be replaced with a modern, durable, and maintenance-free FRIALOC valve cross. Additionally, five domestic service connections had to be safely and efficiently integrated into the new infrastructure – all while maintaining operations and under tight time constraints.
The Solution
The decision was made in favor of a homogeneous PE pipeline network using PE100 pipes with a diameter of 180 mm. Only FRIALEN components were used for the fittings – including our unique FRIALOC PE shut-off valve, the DAV RED SNAP tapping valve, the EFL Full faced spigot flange, as well as various elbows and safety fittings. These components have been proven over many years for their quality and durability. Aliaxis was deliberately chosen, as its products have long been reliably used in the region and enable a consistent and homogeneous polyethylene system solution.
The Realisation
The project was carried out entirely by BS Netz GmbH North’s in-house team. Around 200 meters of the old cast iron pipeline were replaced with the new PE system. The five domestic connections were reconnected, and the new pipeline was seamlessly integrated into the existing network. The use of FRIALOC shut-off valves enabled a secure and low-maintenance network structure – ideal for future expansions and maintenance work.
The Conclusion
